Primary Purpose:
Works directly with enrolled program students to provide academic enrichment and recreational activities in accordance with School Age Child Care (SACC) curriculum plans, and policies and procedures of Comal Independent School District.
Education / Certification:
HS Diploma / GED OR enrollment in High School, an academic work program, Ready Set Teach, FACS, PALS, Child Development, Co-op, or comparable alternative
Current CPR and First Aid certificates, preferred
Experience / Special Knowledge & Skills:
Experience working with children and youth is preferred
Must be 16 years of age
Other Information:
The work schedule for this position during the operating school year is everyday school is in session, from 2:30PM-6:30PM, with some flexibility. During the summer operation hours may vary between 7:00AM and 6:30PM.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
General
Assist the site leaders as directed
Supervise activities as expected by the SACC program by: prepare and facilitating curriculum, enforcing safety rules and behavior plans, and intervening when children are likely to injure themselves, each other, or property
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of materials
Communicate with the site leaders regarding difficult individual child behavior
Always remain with the children during program hours
Assists in maintaining a clean and neat program area at all times
Participates in all staff training and staff meetings, both on site and various locations in the district
Maintains confidentiality of information
Reports to work on time every day scheduled
Follow school procedures and best practices to safeguard the health and safety of the children in the program, which include but are not limited to hand washing, sanitary measures, playground safety rules, rules regarding the use of supplies and equipment
Become knowledgeable of the school’s emergency procedures and ensure proper practices of procedures are conducted on a regular basis or as instructed by site leadership
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned
