JOB DESCRIPTION
AVID is a system that targets potential college students who need support. AVID prepares these students by teaching them college readiness skills. Students are enrolled in advanced courses and given academic support through tutors. AVID tutorials are not like other tutoring sessions. In AVID, the tutor does not have to be a content expert but rather, skilled in leading a group to ask higher-level thinking questions to lead a student to the right answer. AVID tutorials are centered around helping the students get "unstuck" and to use the resources that are available to them. Tutorials at each campus occur during the AVID class period 2 days a week, Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday depending on the campus.
