Primary Purpose:

Coordinates and manages the Texas student assessment program and local assessments to meet student and campus needs. Responsible for all aspects of campus testing programs including the planning, training, communication, organization, materials management, security and administration of state and local testing, norm-referenced, and advanced placement testing.  Analyzes data as it relates to the campus, individual student achievement and the improvement of instruction.  Serves as instructional leader in development and improvement of program services. Organizes and oversees campus intervention, remediation and tutorial services.

 

Education / Certification:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. Valid Texas teaching certificate.
  3. Valid subject matter certificate.

  1. Knowledge of state high school assessment programs.
  2. Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  3. Ability to analyze data and to identify and plan targeted interventions.

Experience / Other Requirements:

  1. Three years of teaching experience in appropriate subject matter.
  2. Prior campus test coordinator experience in a high school setting

Major Responsibilities and Duties

 

Instructional Management

  1. Serves as the Campus Testing Coordinator and coordinates the planning and administration of the statewide assessment programs (STAAR EOC, TAKS, TELPAS, and all retests), including training of campus test administrators, ordering materials, preparing testing rooms and test booklets, verifying program coding and answer documents, managing online testing sessions and maintaining proper documentation.
  2. Works cooperatively with campus leadership to develop plans and logistics of all aspects of campus assessment programs.
  3. Stays current in testing procedures and requirements by attending all district trainings.
  4. Serves as the site coordinator for AP, SAT, PSAT, ACT and, if applicable, NAEP testing.
  5. Serves as the campus coordinator for all local assessments including facilitating Eduphoria scoring/scanning when applicable.
  6. Responsible for receipt, proper use, and return of all testing materials according to state and district guidelines.
  7. Delivers trainings and provides technical support related to testing requirements for campus staff including test administrators.
  8. Ensures that appropriate testing procedures are in place and carried out according to state law and district requirements.
  9. On test days, oversees and monitors the secure administration of assessments and responds promptly to needs and issues if/when they arise.
  10. Compiles testing history on newly enrolled students and shares with campus leadership team and teachers as students enroll.
  11. Maintains complete and accurate listings of all students needing optional testing procedures and accommodations through collaboration with Special Education, 504, Dyslexia, LPAC, and other staff members.
  12. Oversees the receipt, distribution, proper filing, and storage of student test results and campus reports.
  13. Organizes intervention planning and remediation for students failing sections of STAAR EOC or TAKS.
  14. Assists in planning and implementation of systems to manage, report, and communicate assessment data to impact instruction.
  15. Communicates with parents and students regarding remediation and retesting opportunities.
  16. Serves as the campus liaison to the District Testing Coordinator.

Leadership

  1. Provides leadership and support for the campus through communication.
  2. Works collaboratively with the campus leadership team.
  3. Maintains a high level of visibility on the campus.
  4. Cooperates and collaborates with central office staff.
  5. Participates in SBDM, CIP, and DIP revisions and compliance at the campus level.
  6. Provides assistance and support as needed to students, parents, and community members of CISD.
  7. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with parents, students, teachers and administration, and the District Testing Coordinator.
  8. Assists in all other duties as assigned. 

Policy, Reports and Law

  1. Implements policies established by federal and law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  2. Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.
  3. Participates in drafting proposals and developing goals to improve coordination of testing with the total instructional program.
  4. Recommends sound policies to improve program effectiveness.

Budget and Inventory

  1. Compiles budget and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  2. Ensures testing program procedures are cost effective and managed wisely.
  3. Maintains accurate accounting and inventory control of secure testing materials.

Personnel Management and Supervisory Responsibilities

  1. Trains campus staff in all aspects relating to the high school testing program.

  1. Expands leadership skills and knowledge base through self-initiated professional development.
  2. Participates in professional organizations.
  3. Conducts oneself in a professional, ethical manner in accordance with Comal ISD Standards of Conduct, and comply with the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics.

Communications

  1. Informs campus leadership and District Testing Coordinator of any suspected testing irregularities or other issues surrounding the high school testing program.
  2. Informs campus leadership of new requirements related to testing procedures, curriculum and instruction, and special programs.
  3. Informs administration and appropriate staff of changes to law and testing procedures required by the state assessment program.
  4. Keeps the high school community informed of testing requirements, changes to law, test dates, and related opportunities. 
  5. Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for supervision of all high school testing programs.
