Primary Purpose:

Maintain the district’s network infrastructure and provide maximum continuity of connectivity services.

 
Education / Certification:

  1. Two years of experience in computer technologyand direct experience supporting computers or networkcomponents.
  2. Industry certificationspreferred.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  1. Ability to concentrate and communicate effectively (verbally and written).

Education/Certification

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science with two years of experience OR a minimum of 5 Years of related experience.
  1. Cisco Certified Network Associate / Cisco Certified Network Professional is preferred. (or equivalent certification)

 

Experience / Other Requirements:

  1. Valid Texas Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one by the first date of employment.
  2. Must obtain Cisco Certified Network Associate or equivalent certification within One Year.


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Installation, configuration, management, and maintenance of networking equipment like routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access, etc…
  2. Maintain and manage appropriate cybersecurity software and hardware (Firewalls, content filters and proxy services)
  3. Assist in the installation and maintenance of VoIP telephone system components.
  4. Administration of DHCP and DNS environments.
  5. Maintain, perform preventative maintenance, and monitor all WAN / LAN equipment to ensure availability.
  6. Manage network monitoring and performance analysis tools.
  7. Work as project coordinator interfacing with consultants, architects, and contractors for all ongoing and planned construction, additions, and/or renovations.
  8. Develop and maintain district cabling standards.
  9. Document and inventory network components.
  10. Compiles, maintains and file all reports, records and other documents as required.
  11. Serve as escalation for network related questions.
  12. Perform all updates and patch management on network components.
  13. Develop and implement best practice procedures related to network and information security.
  14. Maintain surveillance system network functions.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  16. Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.

Personal computerand all other standard office equipment.
