Description

Primary Purpose:

Under general supervision, maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gases by assembling, installing, and repairing pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures districtwide. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.

 

 

Education / Certification:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Valid journeyman plumber’s license in Texas is preferred.
  3. Valid Texas driver’s license with demonstrated safe driving record.
  4. CDL is preferred.

 

 

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  1. Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.
  2. Knowledge of plumbing codes.
  3. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.
  4. Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  5. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
  6. Ability to use hand and power tools.

 

 

Experience / Other Requirements:

  1. Five years of experience in the plumbing field.
  2. Personal cell phone is required to handle district related business, including after hours, or when away from the office on district business.

 

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings, and fixtures of wastewater systems according to specifications and codes.
  2. Assist in operating and maintaining wastewater system.
  3. Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
  4. Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures, and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners, etc.
  5. Repair dishwashers and kitchen equipment that incorporate gas or water consumption.
  6. Receive and complete work orders.
  7. Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates.
  8. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
  9. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
  10. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  11. Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
  12. Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  13. Assists construction personnel as needed
  14. Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  15. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  16. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  17. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  18. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
  19. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  20. Other duties as assigned by supervisors
  21. Responsible for properly maintaining district records, adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance ad learning the records retention schedule for department records.
