Primary Purpose:

The role of the district onboarding specialist is to provide assistance in designing, planning, and implementing the logistical processes of adding new team members to Comal ISD. An onboarding specialist is a learner who models continuous improvement, lifelong learning, and goes above and beyond to ensure student success. Specialists will provide needed guidance and structure in acclimating new employees to Comal culture and processes. 

 

Education / Certification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Minimum 3 years classroom experience or comparable experience. 

 

Special Knowledge / Skills: 

  • Ability to speak effectively to a variety of adult audiences.
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data. 
  • Demonstrates expertise in oral and written communication.  
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.  
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to evaluate program effectiveness; program compliance.

 

Job description Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Design, develop and deliver content to help new team members assimilate into Comal cultural processes.
  2. Support the onboarding process and operational development of new employees.
  3. Celebrate and acknowledge new team members who achieve high levels of customer service and teamwork.
  4. Partner with campus administration to develop consistency in acquiring knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors in all new team members
  5. Partner with district departments to recruit quality talent.
  6. Attend appropriate professional meetings and workshops to maintain proficiency and to acquire new ideas for professional improvement.
  7. Expand leadership skills and knowledge base through self-initiated professional development activities.
  8. Demonstrate leadership in the educational profession through active involvement in professional organizations.
  9. Personal conduct is consistent with Comal ISD Standards of Conduct and complies with the Texas Education Agency Code of Ethics.
  10. Maintain a high level of visibility in the district as one who serves.

 

  1. Participate in district committees and compliance at the district level.
  2. Providing assistance and/or support as needed to students, parents and community members of CISD.
  3. Keep the coordinator informed concerning opportunities, needs, and operation of schools.
  4. Support board policy and board action with the superintendent, staff, campus personnel, and community as applicable.
  5. Responsible for properly maintaining district records and adhering to all district policies for records maintenance. Responsible for adhering to the records retention schedule for department records.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.
